The members of our Board of Directors encompass a wealth of business knowledge from diverse fields.
W. Richard Summerwill has been the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ISBF. He has been with Iowa State Bank & Trust since 1963. Mr. Summerwill was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Iowa State Bank & Trust from 1984 to 2000. He has remained Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ISBF since 2000.
Charles S. Howard, who became chairman in January 1998, has been President & CEO of the Company since June 1993. He has served as a director of the Company since 1988. Mr. Howard started as a Commercial Loan Officer with MidWestOne Bank & Trust in 1977 and moved to the holding company in 1984.
Charles N. Funk has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Iowa State Bank & Trust since November 2000. Prior to that, he held positions as President and Central Region Manager and Chief Investment Officer for Brenton Bank—Des Moines. He currently serves on the faculty of the Colorado Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, Colorado, and the Iowa School of Banking. Previously, he taught for the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Georgetown University. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Iowa Bankers Association. He graduated with a B.A. from William Jewell College.
Richard R. Donohue, a director from Oskaloosa, Iowa, has been on our board since 1999. Mr. Donohue, CPA, is Managing Partner in the firm of TD&T Financial Group.
John S. Koza has been a director of ISB Financial since its formation in 1983 and a director of Iowa State Bank & Trust since 1982. He also has served as Chairman of First State Bank since 2003. Mr. Koza retired from his positions as Vice President of ISBF and Executive Vice President of Iowa State Bank & Trust in 2000. He served in various management positions with ISBF since its formation in 1983 and with Iowa State Bank & Trust since 1973.
Sally Mason became the 20th President of the University of Iowa in August, 2007 after serving as Provost of Purdue University since 2001. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology. She then earned a Master of Science from Purdue in 1974, followed by a Ph.D. in 1978 from the University of Arizona in Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology. She conducted further research at Indiana University before accepting a position at the University of Kansas in 1981. At Kansas, Mason served as an undergraduate teacher and adviser, a full professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences, an acting chair of the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology, an associate dean in the University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and finally as the dean of that College until 2001.
Kevin W. Monson has been a director of ISBF and Iowa State Bank & Trust since 2006. He is the President, Managing Partner and majority owner of Neumann Monson Architects PC, an architectural services firm headquartered in Iowa City. He is the majority partner in Tower Partners, a real estate investment partnership.
James G. Wake had been a long-time director of MidWestOne Bank & Trust and has been sitting on the Company board since 2000. Mr. Wake is Managing Partner of Smith-Wake Ag Services, a highly diversified agricultural firm with its roots in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The company’s focus includes feed and livestock production, contract finishing, grain services and storage and land management.
Robert D. Wersen, a resident of Oskaloosa, Iowa, served on the board of MidWestOne Bank & Trust and now serves on MidWestOne Bank's board of directors. Mr. Wersen founded Interpower Corporation as Panel Components Corporation in 1975. Originally located in California, the company, which produces power system components for electrical equipment, moved to Iowa in 1993.
Stephen L. West has been a director of ISBF and Iowa State Bank & Trust since 1991. He is the President and majority owner of West Music Company Inc., a musical instrument and supply store headquartered in Coralville, Iowa. He also is Treasurer of Accent LLC, a private-label musical instruments company, and the President of WestInvest, L.C.
Scott Zaiser has been a director for MidWestOne Bank for six years and joined the Company board in 2006. Mr. Zaiser purchased his family's landscaping business in 1997. His company, based in Burlington, Iowa, offers innovative design for new home construction.
