Businesses are prime targets for cybercrime.
Malicious software, or malware, is the primary tool used by cybercriminals to launch account takeovers, steal valuable information and launch fraudulent transactions. What’s worse – the tactics used are changing all the time and are becoming increasingly sophisticated. That’s why it’s critical to establish an effective and sustainable defense against these types of attacks.
To help you fight cybercrime, MidWestOne has teamed up with IBM to offer IBM® Security Trusteer Rapport™ to all Online Cash Manager customers. This is being offered free of charge to you and we anticipate it will be available for download from MidWestOne.com starting Thursday, September 24.
Trusteer Rapport utilizes the most up-to-date technology to help protect your business from cybercriminals. The tool plugs into your existing web browser and blocks any malicious software (malware) that may be on your computer from interfering with your secure online banking session. It is a strong, yet unobtrusive, security control that allows you to take a proactive step against fraud.
How it works
Once downloaded and installed, you will see the Trusteer Rapport emblem next to the address bar in your web browser. The emblem will change from gray to green whenever you visit a protected website. Once activated, the tool will:
- Remove existing financial malware from your computer immediately.
- Prevent financial malware infections when accessing malicious websites or downloading malicious applications.
- Stop phishing attacks from stealing your credentials and data.
- Automatically update to protect you against the latest threats.
It’s important to note, however, that Trusteer Rapport should not replace your existing safety precautions. Trusteer Rapport should be utilized in addition to your existing security controls such as anti-virus software, firewalls, dual control and other recommended safeguards.
