An FHA loan is provided by the federal government and typically requires less cash up front for your down payment and closing costs. It is available for all income levels. An FHA mortgage insurance premium is typically required up-front as well as monthly. We’d be happy to explore FHA as a mortgage option with you!
FirstHome and FirstHome Plus by the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA)
The FirstHome program offers first-time home buyers state-sponsored, affordable, fixed rate mortgages. The FirstHome Plus program provides up to $2,500 in cash assistance to help eligible borrowers with closing costs, down payment, or minor repairs. Eligibility requirements apply. We can discuss those with you.
Military Homeownership Assistance by the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA)
The Military Homeownership Assistance program provides eligible service members and veterans with a $5,000 grant that may be used toward down payment and closing cost assistance. Eligibility requirements apply.
USDA Rural Development Program
The USDA Rural Development program enables borrowers to purchase a home with no money down. You can even roll some of the closing costs into the loan. To be eligible, you must meet the income limitations and the property must be located in an eligible Rural Housing Zone. We can discuss those specifics with you.
There may be loan programs specific to geographical areas, counties, or cities. MidWestOne participates in several of these programs. Inquire with your local Real Estate Banker to see if there are any programs available in your area.
